Tinker General Availability

Thinking Machines introduced Tinker on October 1, 2025 as a managed service for customizing existing models: the company handles the distributed training infrastructure, while users keep control of their algorithms and data. The original launch is covered separately.

The December 12, 2025 update removed the waitlist and added image input through two Qwen3-VL models. The company's example is an image classifier: because Qwen3-VL is a language model, classification is framed as text generation, so the model is given an image and trained to output the category name. Users can therefore adapt an existing model's combined visual and language abilities to a labeled image task through the same managed training service. The post reports accuracy results on four image datasets, which are not evaluated here.
