Combine Skills and MCP to Close the Context Gap — Pedro Rodrigues, Supabase

Giving an agent database tools does not supply all the knowledge needed to use them correctly. In a Supabase comparison described in this talk, an agent with additional product instructions included a security setting when creating a database view; the tool-only run omitted it.

A view exposes a query as a reusable database object. Supabase's documentation explains that views bypass row-level security by default because they are usually created with a privileged user, so they can expose rows that an ordinary caller's policies would restrict. On PostgreSQL 15 and later, setting security_invoker = true makes the view apply the caller's underlying row-security policies. The example shows how task-specific guidance can supply a consequential rule that access to a tool alone does not teach.
