Context

Google's Antigravity 2.0 announcement, dated May 19, 2026, moves management into a standalone desktop application with no code editor. Conversations are grouped by project rather than by repository, and a project can span several folders and enforce its own agent settings and permissions. This broadens the unit of work beyond a single code repository.

The application also supports scheduled agent tasks (agents triggered on a set schedule) and tasks that run asynchronously so the main agent can keep working. Google says the separation from its coding editor reflects its expectation that agent use would expand from coding to knowledge work, where combining an editor and an agent surface could confuse people less familiar with code.
