OpenAI's transparent-background preview for GPT-Image-2 makes generated artwork reusable across different layouts. The developer announcement describes assets that can be placed on other backgrounds for product imagery and design work. An accompanying post says the capability is available in ChatGPT as well as through the API. The useful change is that the generated subject can be reused without carrying a fixed background into every composition.
