Research and release status

Cua open-sourced CUA-S1-FORMS on September 18, 2026 as the first CUA-S1 model, with checkpoints under the cua-ai Hugging Face namespace. It is not yet indexed in this Atlas snapshot.

Infrastructure first

Cua describes itself as an open-source, self-hostable layer for computer-use agents across Linux, Windows, macOS, and Android. Its products include Cua Driver for operating desktop applications, sandboxes, elastic machine fleets, and the Cua Bench evaluation framework. Most of the company's public work is agent infrastructure rather than model training. [1][2]

CUA-S1: small models for interface decisions

The September 18 announcement introduces CUA-S1 as a family of small models built for computer use, beginning with a form-filling checkpoint. Its model card describes a 706,048-parameter option scorer that does not generate text; it rates candidate actions for each form element behind Cua Driver. The project README frames CUA-S1 as early-stage research and lists further checkpoints, including LoRA adapters on Qwen3.5-4B. [3][4][5]

People and evidence limits

Y Combinator lists Francesco Bonacci as founder and CTO. Cua's about page says he and Dillon DuPont began the company after building the Windows Agent Arena benchmark at Microsoft. The form model's reported accuracy comes from synthetic forms and a 196-decision real evaluation set; the card itself says it is not validated on arbitrary real-world forms. [6][2][5]
