Models centered on people

humans& launched in January 2026 with a program centered on people, relationships, and cooperation. Its stated research directions include long-horizon and multi-agent reinforcement learning, memory, and user understanding. The organization plans to develop research and products together. [1]

A research preview, not a pre-release lab

Its official blog announced Persimmon in September as a user-model research preview with evaluations of how models capture human behavior. That announcement changes the lab's status: absence from our Atlas is a catalog coverage gap, not evidence that it has released nothing. [2]

What to watch

Further evaluations should establish how well user models generalize and what their limitations mean for products that mediate between people. The launch materials describe a team drawn from industry and academic labs but do not supply a complete current leadership roster; this profile does not infer one. [1][2]
