Research and release status
An academic research institution, not a pre-release startup. Model and software releases should be attributed to their specific research teams and artifacts.
An institution broader than a model catalog
CSAIL brings together computer-science and AI research at MIT. Its institutional history connects work on AI with major developments in computing infrastructure. A lab profile therefore needs to cover research and people even when a particular result has no commercial model endpoint. [1]
Research and public evidence
CSAIL maintains a research directory, a publication archive through MIT DSpace, and a newsroom. Those are different kinds of evidence: a news article explains a result, while the linked paper and artifacts establish its technical scope. Spin-off companies should retain their own identities rather than inheriting all of CSAIL's work. [1][2]
What we follow
The official newsroom and MIT_CSAIL account are the discovery channels. Subsequent dossiers should connect claims to the responsible investigators and publications, including evaluation limits. This baseline does not attempt to assign one model-performance score to the institution. [2]
