What are the best AI meeting transcription tools?

Judge them on speaker separation and search rather than summary quality. Summaries are broadly comparable now; being able to find who said what three months ago is where they diverge.

What to look for

  • 01Does it separate speakers reliably? Attribution errors make the transcript actively misleading.
  • 02Can you search across all past meetings, or only read one at a time?
  • 03Where is the recording stored, and who else can reach it?

Common questions

Do I need consent to record a meeting with an AI notetaker?
In many jurisdictions yes, and all-party consent is required in some. Announce it, and check your local rules before turning one on by default.
Are AI meeting summaries reliable?
Reasonable for decisions and action items, weaker on nuance and disagreement. A summary that flattens an unresolved argument into a decision is the failure mode to watch for.
