The Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) is Stanford University's AI research lab. John McCarthy founded it in 1963. It was one of the leading early centers of AI research and an early ARPANET site, and it built the Stanford Arm, a forerunner of modern industrial robots. Today SAIL works across machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics and human-AI interaction.

In a Stanford Benchtalks interview, SWE-bench co-creator John Yang discusses ProgramBench and how each generation of AI coding benchmarks exposed new model failure modes as capabilities advanced.
OpenThoughts-Agent-v2 is an open agentic training dataset that leads at every training-set size in compute-controlled comparisons, reaching a 44.8% average across seven agentic coding and terminal-use benchmarks.
QuasiMoTTo replaces independent parallel sampling at inference time with correlated samples, avoiding redundant rediscovery of the same solutions and improving compute efficiency for test-time scaling.
