Albert is a plugin-based keyboard launcher whose official site provides installation packages for Linux distributions and for macOS through a Homebrew tap. Its GitHub organization, albertlauncher, lists Germany as its location and hosts the main C++ repository alongside the launcher's plugins, and the repository's license names Manuel Schneider as copyright holder. Linux Uprising described Albert in 2019 as a launcher inspired by Quicksilver and Alfred, written in C++ and Qt with a plugin-based architecture.
