Career
George joined a16z in 2019 after seven years at General Atlantic, where he worked on consumer-internet and enterprise-software investments. Earlier, he was an investment associate at FFL Partners and an investment-banking analyst at William Blair. He graduated from Notre Dame and earned an MBA at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. His current role spans growth-stage investments across software, infrastructure and other technology businesses.[1]
Contributions
George coauthored a16z’s Armadin investment announcement with Stephenie Zhang. The article argues that periodic security testing is poorly matched to attackers that can continuously explore systems at machine speed. It presents Armadin’s use of autonomous testing as an investment thesis for finding and verifying exploitable paths. This is an investor’s account of the company and its direction, not a claim that George built its security technology.[2]
Ideas
In his interview on late-stage investing, George discusses how a company’s market, competitive position and product strength influence whether it can sustain growth. The framework distinguishes an appealing current result from the organizational and market conditions needed to repeat it. His contribution is an investor’s way of examining those conditions, rather than a claim that a checklist can predict every outcome.[3]
