Ian Guisard works on design systems at Uber and created uSpec, a tool for generating component documentation and rendering design annotations in Figma.[1][2][3]

A shared component contract
uSpec turns a component capture into two related artifacts: a structured JSON contract and a Markdown implementation guide. The contract records details such as the component API, structure, colors and screen-reader behavior. Automation can consume schema-validated JSON, while designers, developers and AI workflows can read the shorter Markdown guide. Both come from the same capture rather than separate manual descriptions.[2]
Specifications back in the design file
The workflow uses the uSpec Extract Figma plugin to capture a selected component. Agent skills then render sections of the specification into Figma as annotation frames through an MCP connection. The supported outputs include structure, properties, anatomy, accessibility and motion specifications. This gives Guisard’s documentation work a concrete purpose: keeping implementation guidance connected to the design artifact people already inspect.[2]

Read the component-contract overview, then follow the first-run capture instructions. Trying the full workflow requires Figma, an MCP connection and a supported coding agent.
