Letta is a San Francisco AI research lab; its GitHub organization describes it as building persistent agents that learn from their own experience. It was founded by UC Berkeley PhD students Sarah Wooders and Charles Packer as the commercial entity of MemGPT, an open-source project from Berkeley's Sky Computing Lab, and came out of stealth in September 2024 with a $10 million seed round led by Felicis. Its GitHub organization publishes Letta Code and Claude Subconscious.
