Career

Menelaws began coding professionally after co-founding tmrrw labs with friends, building enterprise software for health and energy clients. His About page dates the start of his video practice to around 2021 and says that daily publishing became his full-time work. He describes Coding with Lewis as story-driven developer education, mixing explanations of real systems with experimental projects that viewers can examine for themselves.[1]

Contributions

Cut out an object by describing it

Samify takes a video and a phrase such as person or coffee mug, then produces a clip with transparency for editing software. A selected backend generates a frame-by-frame mask, and FFmpeg combines that mask with the original picture as an alpha channel. Hosted services are the default; an optional local backend runs on the user’s GPU. This is application and workflow engineering around Meta’s segmentation models, rather than authorship of those models.[3]

Automate a repeatable media format

Reddit Video Maker Bot turns Reddit material into an edited video file using a Python workflow. The repository credits Menelaws and TMRRW and documents browser tooling, configuration, and Reddit API access. It explicitly leaves uploading to the user. Alongside Samify, it shows a recurring interest in making the mechanical parts of video production programmable while keeping a concrete output that a person can inspect and edit.[4]

A CLI that turns a text-selected subject in video into an editable cutout with an alpha channel.

Use a short clip and one visible subject, then inspect the mask and transparent output in an editor. Python and command-line familiarity help; choose the backend before uploading media.
