Career
Vichy co-founded Plasmo and served as its CTO, working on a browser-extension framework and publishing tools. His résumé also records founding-engineer work at Ponder and Roshub and a software-engineer role at Intuit. He holds a BS in Game Design and Development from Rochester Institute of Technology, with study listed from August 2016 through December 2018.[2]
Contributions
A common interface across model providers
OpenRouter provides a marketplace and gateway across model providers. Its company description emphasizes choosing among models and providers for cost, quality and reliability, while reducing dependence on a single vendor. Vichy’s work as co-founder places him in the engineering and operation of that shared access layer.[5][6]
Bring inference to a desktop application
His local.ai project combines a model downloader, per-note inference settings and a streaming inference server. Notes and their settings are stored in plain-text MDX files. The application uses an existing Rust inference library and is designed to work alongside window.ai, allowing a web application to connect to local model execution.[4]
Ideas
In the original Cause & Effect interview, Vichy discusses OpenRouter’s TypeScript stack, routing infrastructure and gradual adoption of Effect. The conversation covers error handling, concurrency and observability, including the role of internal tooling. The publisher’s chapter list provides an entry into the engineering decisions behind a shared model gateway.[3]
