Career
Garman interned at Amazon in 2005 and joined full-time in 2006 as one of AWS’s first product managers. He spent more than a decade leading EC2 and related compute services before moving to worldwide sales and marketing. His AWS biography records bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Stanford and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.[2][3]
Contributions
In his conversation with Raghu Raghuram, Garman discusses services designed for agents that write code and manage infrastructure. The problem extends beyond generating an application: an agent needs compute capacity, interfaces it can operate and controls an enterprise can trust. He connects those needs with AWS’s custom-chip work and allocation of scarce GPU resources.[4]
Ideas
The conversation separates chip choices from the infrastructure required to deploy them. Trainium and Graviton sit within a larger discussion of data-center capacity, capital investment and enterprise adoption. Garman’s perspective is that of a cloud-platform operator serving startups and larger customers.[4]
