Career
Baschez designed and built Product Hunt’s first version in 2013. He later created the coding-education tool that became General Assembly’s Dash, co-founded the storytelling app Hardbound and led product at Gimlet. As Substack’s first employee, he built core publishing features. He then co-founded Every and wrote Divinations, a column about technology and business strategy.[1]
Contributions
From Lex to collaborative agent tools
Lex began as a side project inside Every in September 2022, using GPT-3 to support writing. It became a separate company led by Baschez. His newer work includes Thoughtful, a shared environment where teams can work with agents using files, skills, memory and mini-apps. These projects connect his experience building publishing products with tools for writing and coordinating work with AI.[1][2]
Reviewing an agent’s draft
Roughdraft gives a person and a coding agent a shared interface for reviewing Markdown. Comments and suggested edits attach to specific passages, so document feedback stays with the draft. Baschez describes the project as open source and local first.[2]
