Promptfoo is an open-source CLI and library for evaluating and red-teaming applications built on large language models. It was co-founded by Ian Webster, its CEO, and Michael D'Angelo, its CTO. In March 2026 SecurityWeek reported that OpenAI was acquiring the company; Promptfoo says it is now part of OpenAI and remains open source.
