Guillermo Rauch grew up in Lanús, Argentina, where he taught himself programming and English as a teenager and became a core contributor to MooTools before dropping out of high school and moving to San Francisco. He created Socket.IO and Mongoose — two foundational open-source projects of the Node.js era — then founded Cloudup, a media-sharing service acquired by Automattic, before starting Zeit, which evolved into Vercel, the web infrastructure platform he leads today as CEO.
