Career
Before Baidu, Li worked as an engineer at Infoseek and as a senior consultant at IDD Information Services. Baidu’s biography dates his chairmanship to January 2000, its inception, and his CEO role to February 2004. He was president from February 2000 through December 2003.[1]
Contributions
Li’s 2026 executive statements describe Baidu’s move from an internet business toward AI infrastructure and applications, alongside Apollo Go’s autonomous-driving service. This is organizational leadership over several technical programmes, rather than personal authorship of each model or agent. Baidu’s quarterly release provides a dated account of which businesses and products management is emphasizing.[2]
Ideas
At Baidu Create 2026, Li proposed Daily Active Agents as a counterpart to Daily Active Users. The company describes the metric as agents carrying out tasks, executing workflows and delivering results. The proposal shifts attention toward use and output; a count alone still needs task quality and value to show whether an agent helped.[3]

Start with what makes an agent active and what counts as a delivered result. No technical background is required; ask how quality and the value of a task would be measured alongside the count.
