Scott Wu is Cognition’s co-founder and CEO. He introduced the company’s Devin software-engineering agent and describes a workflow in which engineers delegate tasks and review completed changes.[1][2]

Background
Wu’s Stripe interview profile records three International Olympiad in Informatics gold medals and participation on Harvard’s team in the 2016 International Collegiate Programming Contest. It says he founded Lunchclub, an AI-powered professional-networking platform, in 2017 and left in 2022 before co-founding Cognition. These sources support college attendance and the sequence of companies, but do not establish an awarded Harvard degree or the exact date he began serving as Cognition’s CEO.[1]
Career
Wu’s July 23, 2026 announcement welcomed The Interaction Company, maker of Poke, to Cognition. Poke is described as a personal agent that works through messages and can initiate contact or follow up. Wu connects that product experience with how he wants working with Devin to feel, and says he and Walden Yan had been early investors in Interaction. The announcement documents a company-building decision and a product direction. It does not establish that Wu personally built Poke or that every proposed integration was already complete.[3]
Contributions
Wu authored Cognition’s March 12, 2024 introduction to Devin. The post describes an agent equipped with a shell, code editor and browser in a sandboxed computing environment. A user can assign work while the agent gathers context, changes code, runs checks and reports progress. The launch examples include reproducing a software bug, implementing a fix and testing it. This is a company product introduced by Wu, not a claim of sole implementation. The original post is useful for understanding the proposed workflow; its launch benchmarks and early-access instructions are historical.[2]
Ideas
In his Stripe interview, Wu explains Devin as an asynchronous experience: an engineer delegates a ticket or project and later reviews the result. He identifies repetitive work such as migrations, upgrades, documentation and testing as potential uses. The distinction is about how the engineer organizes work and reviews completed changes. His claims about the time saved are his account of customer workflows, rather than an independent measurement applying to every task or codebase.[1]
