Career

Ango’s portfolio spans furniture, fabric printing, packaging and software. It lists Inkodye as a company he co-founded to make photosensitive dyes for printing fabric with sunlight, and Lumi as a company helping businesses find and collaborate with manufacturers. He now leads Obsidian, whose institutional team page separately identifies Shida Li and Erica Xu as its founders. His own projects include the Minimal theme, browser tools and file formats.[1][2][3]

Contributions

Extracting usable web content

Defuddle finds the main content of a web page and removes surrounding clutter such as navigation and comments. It can return cleaned HTML or Markdown along with metadata. The repository explains that it originated for Obsidian Web Clipper and can also run in other environments. That makes it useful for saving articles or supplying a downstream tool with the actual text rather than the full page shell.[3][5]

Teaching agents to work with open files

The Obsidian Skills repository supplies instructions for agents using Obsidian’s Markdown conventions, Bases files, JSON Canvas and the command-line interface. It also includes web extraction and Markdown templating skills. These resources give an agent explicit information about file structures and operations instead of relying on it to infer an application’s conventions from scratch.[6]

Ideas

File over app argues that the files a person creates should remain retrievable after the software used to make them disappears. Ango applies that principle to his own writing in Obsidian and to a site built from plain text. The practical consequence is an emphasis on formats people can inspect, move and preserve without depending on a particular hosted service. Obsidian’s manifesto similarly emphasizes local data, open formats, customization and user support.[1][2][4]
