Strands Agents

Strands Agents is an open-source SDK for building and running AI agents in Python and TypeScript, released by Amazon Web Services under the Apache 2.0 license in May 2025. It takes a model-driven approach, relying on the model's own ability to plan, call tools and reflect rather than hand-coded workflows. It grew out of AWS's internal agent work and is used in production by AWS teams including Amazon Q Developer and AWS Glue. Its 1.0 release added multi-agent orchestration and support for the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol.
