Start with WezTerm →Career
Furlong’s professional biography identifies him as KumoMTA’s co-founder, building open-source mail-transfer software. Before that, he spent more than a decade as a principal engineer at Facebook/Meta on developer infrastructure and productivity. Earlier he was chief architect and director of engineering at Message Systems, working on messaging infrastructure for large email senders.[2]
Contributions
Tools that scale a developer’s working environment
Furlong created Watchman and EdenFS, which support file watching and source-control infrastructure at Meta. His PHP contributions include streams and database-abstraction facilities. WezTerm brings the same systems focus to a cross-platform terminal emulator and multiplexer written in Rust, combining the terminal display with support for managing sessions and panes.[1][2][3]
Remapping input below the desktop application
Evremap grabs a Linux input device, tracks the keys being held and emits a remapped set through a virtual device. Because it works at the evdev layer, a mapping can apply across Wayland, X11 and the Linux console. Its examples include making Caps Lock act as Control when held and Escape when tapped, a concrete way to change a keyboard’s behavior across applications.[4]
