We built Spark 2.0 to bring the most ambitious 3DGS worlds to the web🌍 Making high-fidelity 3D accessible on any device is a big step for spatial storytelling. We’re proud to share this open-source renderer capable of streaming 100M+ 3DGS to unlock a new era of world building! https://t.co/xOPplRgXc6
Context
World Labs makes large 3D scenes practical to explore in a browser by loading detail according to the viewer's position. Its open-source Spark 2.0 renderer works with Gaussian splats, small colored, partly transparent shapes that collectively depict a scene. The company's technical explanation describes how it prepares coarser versions of those shapes and selects the detail needed for the current view.
As the camera moves, Spark streams additional detail and swaps scene data within a fixed graphics-memory budget. This lets a world contain far more splats than the device draws in any frame. The announcement's 100-million-plus scene size therefore describes the world available to explore, while selective rendering and make that scale manageable.
