This project is an out-of-tree Linux driver stack and boot toolchain for the Cavium CN6640-SNIC10E SmartNIC (Octeon II, PCI ID 177d:0092), reverse-engineered to expose the card as two independent 10 GbE host interfaces (oct0/oct1) over its PCIe BAR2 shared-memory datapath. It includes a host kernel module (octnic), on-card OpenWrt modules (octshm_card/octcarrier), and a serial-free host bootloader (octboot), released under the GPL-2.0 license.
Why it made the leaderboard
Restores usability of an otherwise abandoned Cavium Octeon II SmartNIC under modern Linux via a fully reverse-engineered driver and bootloader, useful to anyone repurposing this hardware.
