About
Native Apple Silicon Mac app for macOS26 or later that compares GitHub counts with manually logged push-ups. It documents a menu-bar reminder, full-screen breaks, a desktop widget and Smart Pause. Selectable themes remain marked coming soon. Seven-day trial, then a one-time license for one active Mac.
At a glance
ForcePush is a plausible choice for Mac developers who enjoy a daily score and want their coding activity to prompt movement breaks. It compares GitHub counts with push-ups you log yourself, then adds a menu-bar timer and a desktop widget. The distinctive benefit is that playful connection to your workday. It requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later, and the app itself was not installed or tested.
Good fit
Someone who finds a visible commits-versus-repetitions contest more motivating than a generic break alarm. The published flow gives a heads-up, shows a break across displays and lets you log the set with two Space presses or a menu action. Interval, target repetitions and pause conditions are configurable. Those are documented controls, not proof that the reminders improve fitness or that Smart Pause always recognizes a meeting.
Consider something else when
You need automatic repetition detection, support for Intel Macs or another operating system, or a neutral reminder without a competitive score. Push-ups are entered manually, and commit counts are a game target rather than a measure of useful work or appropriate exercise. If interruption avoidance is essential, test it with your actual calling and screen-sharing apps during the trial. Selectable themes are marked coming soon on the current homepage.
Start here
For an eligible Mac, the publisher describes a seven-day full-feature trial without a card or account. If you choose to install it, set the reminder interval, heads-up and target, then start with a public GitHub username. Check the displayed counts and try a break, manual logging and undo before judging whether the contest helps. Private contribution counting uses a separate optional GitHub device authorization. No installer was downloaded, no authorization was granted and none of these native workflows was exercised here.
Cost and requirements
The live pricing page on 31 October 2026 showed a $9.99 founding tier in US dollars, with later $13.99 and $19.99 tiers. Availability changes, and checkout adds applicable taxes. The one-time license permits one active Mac and includes updates within the purchased major version; move it by clearing the old activation. The terms require online activation and periodic validation, with up to 30 days of previously validated use while the service is unreachable. The refund policy generally excludes change-of-mind refunds while preserving mandatory consumer rights, so evaluate the trial first.
Limits to know
According to the privacy policy, exercise logs and Smart Pause observations stay on the Mac, GitHub requests go directly to GitHub, and an optional token uses Keychain. Licensing sends a key, installation identifier and device name to the license service. The documented read:user scope is profile access, not repository-source access. These are published data-handling statements, not a code or network audit. Public-event counts and signed-in contribution-calendar data use different sources, so verify the score against what you expect. No native usability, counting accuracy, meeting detection or export/restore behavior was tested.
Still unclear
- Accuracy of contribution counts and Smart Pause with actual work apps was not tested.
- The native reminder, widget and manual logging workflow were not exercised.

Why it made the leaderboard
A playful alternative to a generic break alarm for developers who enjoy a daily score. Manual logging, contribution-count sources, Mac requirements and license validation affect the choice. The native reminder, widget and meeting detection were not tested.
