My AI Skeptic Friends Are All Nuts

Context

The useful distinction in this Fly.io essay is the feedback a coding receives. An agent can inspect a repository, edit files, compile the result and run tests. Errors then become input to another attempt. That gives it opportunities to repair mistakes that would remain in a code snippet copied directly from chat, as the practitioner account explains.

The author's case for adoption also keeps developers responsible for reading and editing what they merge. Compilers and tests supply specific checks; human review supplies judgment about whether the resulting change belongs in the product. The essay argues from experience rather than a controlled productivity comparison.
