Context

Removing execution errors is progress, but it is not the same as delivering a working application. In Bijan Bowen's comparison of PrismML's Bonsai 27B models, he reports repeatedly pasting errors back to the binary (1-bit) version until it cleared the failures preventing a game from running. The game still did not work properly once those errors were gone. Review recap.

This separates two useful stages for heavily compressed models: can the repair enough to make its output inspectable, and does that output satisfy the task? The attempt shows some repair capability while leaving functional completion unresolved. It does not establish the general reliability of binary models.

  • eval — A repeatable test for AI quality — a set of tasks plus scoring — used the way software teams use test suites, because model output is too variable to judge by eyeballing.
  • AI agent — An AI system that doesn't just answer once but works toward a goal in a loop — taking actions, reading the results, and deciding what to do next.
