OpenRouter, a gateway that gives developers one interface to multiple AI model providers, announced on August 19 that it was joining Stripe. Its company statement says the deal is subject to customary closing conditions, expected in the coming weeks, and that OpenRouter keeps the same name, product and roadmap with existing integrations unchanged.
That statement gives first-party confirmation beyond the newsletter digest covering August 15-17, which reported an acquisition for $7 billion. OpenRouter's post discloses no price. For developers, the supported consequence is the company's commitment to continuity of its model gateway.
