Stripe is a financial infrastructure company founded in 2010 by Irish brothers Patrick Collison and John Collison, who had previously sold their first startup as teenagers before conceiving of a developer-first payments platform they believed "should have already existed." Headquartered in San Francisco, it grew into the world's largest private fintech company by valuation, processing over $1.9 trillion in payment volume in 2025 and serving businesses in more than 160 countries.
