Vercel's AI SDK can now run Cursor through HarnessAgent, the same application interface used to run other coding agents. The Cursor adapter announcement describes an integration that lets an application change its chosen AI agentAn AI system that doesn't just answer once but works toward a goal in a loop — taking actions, reading the results, and deciding what to do next.Full definition → without rewriting the surrounding application code.
The adapter uses Agent Client Protocol, a standard communication interface for coding agents. It builds on the earlier protocol adapter, which adapts compatible runtimes through a common protocol. Vercel's protocol announcement also explains that adapters can expose different runtime behavior. A common calling interface makes integration reusable; it does not make the agents' capabilities identical.
