Vercel's changelog announced a lower list price for OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and said its 50% AI Gateway discount applied to the new, lower price through September 18. The cut was 20% on input and a third on output.
Requests already being sent to the model were billed at the new rate automatically because the model ID was unchanged, while requests using a customer's own OpenAI key were billed at that customer's own OpenAI rate. The discount was therefore a time-limited Gateway offer, not a price that applied to every way of using the model.
