About
ClaudeLines is a community registry of customizable status line scripts for Claude Code, the AI coding tool. These scripts display real-time context usage, costs, Git status, rate limits, and other developer-relevant info in a persistent bar at the bottom of the editor. You can browse community-built status lines and install one with a single prompt.
What it does
A marketplace where people publish, sell and download the small programs Claude Code runs to draw its bottom bar. Each listing stores the script, a captured terminal preview the site renders without running anything, and a trust card from two independent checks: a language-model security audit and a fixed set of pattern rules. Paid publishing costs fifteen cents, which buys the audit. Buyers pay the author's wallet directly over crypto payment protocols, and an agent-facing instruction page walks Claude through download, checksum verification, review and install.
Why it's ranked here
The interesting part is the security design, not the catalogue. A status bar script runs with the user's full privileges roughly once a second, and this project treats that seriously: an audit prompt with explicit prompt-injection defenses, a separate rule scanner whose high-severity hits override an approving audit, embedded base64 payloads decoded and rescanned, and a checksum on every served script. It is still a young service with a tiny test suite and an unconventional payment stack, so it ranks for thoughtful plumbing around a real risk rather than for scale.
What's good
The two checks are designed to disagree. The audit prompt tells the model that anything inside the submission is attacker data and that trying to instruct the auditor is itself grounds for rejection. The rule scanner then catches pipe-to-shell downloads, writes to shell startup files or Claude settings, cron jobs and credential reads regardless of what the model said. An audit reply that cannot be parsed is treated as a rejection. The install instructions tell the agent to save raw bytes, compare a SHA-256 checksum, explain the script, and wait for the user's approval.
Tradeoffs
Publishing and buying require a crypto wallet and the x402 or MPP payment protocols, which most Claude Code users do not have. The wallet-less free path skips the language-model audit entirely and relies only on the rule scanner, so those listings carry an unaudited warning. The README itself calls every automated check advisory. Test coverage in the fetched source is a single file of four scanner cases. Pattern rules are regular expressions, so an attacker who avoids the listed shapes gets past them, and the capability labels are admitted heuristics.
How to use it well
Use it to find a status bar someone has already built and to see a rendered preview before trusting it. Let an agent follow the published install instructions, but read the script yourself, especially on unaudited listings, and check the checksum. If you publish, sanitize the captured preview first, since it runs your real script and can leak home paths or balances. It does not help you write a status bar from scratch, and it is not a sandbox: installed scripts still run with your permissions.
Technical notes+
Next.js App Router service with every API route funneled through a single catch-all in src/app/api/[[...route]]/route.ts via @agentcash/router, which also handles x402, MPP and SIWX wallet signatures. Storage is Drizzle over Neon Postgres (src/lib/db/schema.ts): a statuslines table carrying script, previewAnsi, previewFrames, capabilities, auditVerdict, auditSummary, redFlags, and separate hidden (moderation, owner cannot clear) and archived (owner-reversible) flags, plus identities, events (with a salted IP hash for install dedup) and feedback tables. src/lib/statusline/audit.ts sends the script behind an ===SUBMISSION=== marker with a registry-generated payload analysis placed above it, calls Anthropic directly when ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set or else pays per call through the agentcash CLI proxy, and returns reject on any unparseable reply. src/lib/statusline/redflags.ts holds eight regex rules (six high, two medium) and rescans decoded payloads; its header says a high hit downgrades an approve to caution, while README.md says high hits are rejected on the wallet-less path. src/lib/statusline/capabilities.ts is five advisory regexes. src/lib/skill.ts is the single source for the agent instruction document, served at two URLs. src/lib/statusline/redflags.test.ts runs under node:test via tsx.
