Squint is a Windows and Linux desktop app, built with Rust and Tauri, that lets a user drag a capture box around any part of their screen and get an AI answer about it immediately, replacing the usual cycle of taking a screenshot, switching to a chat app, and uploading it. Answers come from OpenAI models, with a faster default mode and a slower Best mode for higher-quality responses, and the free tier is limited to a small number of daily and weekly captures under a metered, sign-in-required account.
Why it made the leaderboard
Cuts asking an AI about anything on your screen to a single drag-select gesture instead of screenshot, tab-switch, upload and ask, useful for quickly querying about code, errors, or UI shown on screen.
