Context

Gergely Orosz, who writes the Pragmatic Engineer newsletter, reports in a write-up of the LDX3 conference keynote that GitHub shared unpublished data. In a chart labeled as GitHub's, -authored pull requests (proposed code changes written by AI agents) rose ninefold in eight months, and the newsletter says there were more agent-authored than human-authored pull requests on the platform in August 2026.

These are GitHub's figures as relayed by Orosz, and the text does not define what counts as agent-authored. The expectation that agent pull requests will keep outnumbering human ones is labeled speculation, not something the data shows. The newsletter links the growth to load on GitHub, a platform Orosz has criticized for reliability problems.
