About
An open-source golf launch monitor built from a Raspberry Pi 5 and off-the-shelf Doppler radars for roughly $500 in parts, where commercial units run into the thousands. A sound trigger catches impact and the radar I/Q data is analysed in Python to derive ball speed, club speed, smash factor, launch angle, club path, spin rate and estimated carry. Sessions sync to FlightWeb, the project's hosted dashboard for shot history and dispersion trends, and raw radar data never leaves the Pi — only shot summaries are uploaded.
Why it made the leaderboard
A launch monitor you build yourself from about $500 of Raspberry Pi and Doppler radar parts, reporting ball speed, club speed, launch angle, spin and carry — the numbers commercial units charge thousands for. The whole stack is AGPL, and raw radar data never leaves the Pi; only shot summaries reach the FlightWeb dashboard.
