Light Converter is an open-source web app that removes backgrounds from batches of images entirely on-device, using WebGPU-accelerated BiRefNet models with a WASM fallback for unsupported browsers. It includes a brush editor exposing every model parameter, and because processing happens locally in the browser, images are never uploaded to a server.

Why it made the leaderboard

Runs background removal entirely on-device with no upload, account, or watermark, giving builders a private, batchable alternative to cloud image-editing APIs.
