Tailgate is an open-source overlay network that runs the official Tailscale apps against a Headscale server and DERP relays you operate. It adds validated configuration, pinned builds, private HTTPS and an administration console where access starts deny-all and is granted per device, service and port. The operator is responsible for hosting, patching and backups, and devices without a direct path cannot connect if the relays are down.
