ClusterMAX 3.0: The Industry Standard GPU Cloud Rating System Returns

Context

SemiAnalysis's ClusterMAX 3.0 evaluates the managed system around rented GPUs: whether customers can reliably run their workloads without building the management infrastructure themselves. Its testing methodology combines configuration audits with component benchmarks and training and workloads.

That distinction explains why a GPU's advertised specifications cannot describe the whole service. The report tests networking and storage alongside compute, including how long ordinary setup and model-loading operations take. These checks can reveal bottlenecks that a brief chip-speed test misses. The ratings' stated scope is managed clusters, so they should be read as an assessment of that operational service rather than every product a cloud provider sells.
