About

PortButler is a native macOS app that combines an SSH terminal, an SFTP file browser, and a serial monitor in one window, showing remote hosts and a connected USB-serial adapter in the same host list. It gives specific diagnoses for common connection failures instead of a generic error, timestamps every serial line down to the millisecond to expose delays like an SD card timeout during boot, paces pasted text over serial to avoid overrunning a device's input buffer, and supports file transfer over serial via XMODEM, YMODEM, ZMODEM, and plain text.

Why it made the leaderboard

It replaces juggling separate SSH, file-transfer, and serial-monitor apps with one view that also explains why a connection failed instead of showing a generic error, useful for anyone debugging servers or embedded boards.
