Context
Ai2's OlmoEarth Studio can export numerical representations of satellite imagery for a chosen place and period, letting analysts reuse the model's learned features in their own geospatial work. These describe surface characteristics so that similar locations have similar vectors. The export workflow computes them on demand and returns a georeferenced raster file. Ai2 says custom exports are available to Studio users and asks interested people to reach out for access. An analyst can compare a sample location with surrounding pixels to search for similar terrain, or compare the same area at different times: the post contrasts September 2023 with September 2024 imagery and finds the 2024 Park Fire burn scar. The time selection matters because seasonal or local changes can disappear inside an annual summary.
