About

Charlie Munger cognitive operating system as a Claude skill — load Munger-style mental models into your agent for decision making.

What it does

Munger Skill turns an AI agent into a disciplined decision critic. It classifies questions, researches current facts when needed, then applies inversion, incentive analysis, competence boundaries, opposing evidence, and cognitive-bias checks. Responses adopt a terse, blunt persona, with an initial disclaimer and explicit commands for leaving the role.

Why it's ranked here

The material goes beyond cosmetic role-play. It defines activation rules, a research protocol, checkpoints, failure recovery, counterexamples, and known weaknesses in the underlying worldview. That rigor makes it useful for structured challenge sessions. Its value is narrower when blunt delivery, impersonation, or defensive decision methods do not fit the problem.

What's good

The strongest feature is operational specificity. Factual questions require fresh research and contrary evidence before judgment. Checkpoints test incentives, reversibility, uncertainty, and competence boundaries. The material also documents where its methods fail, including technology judgments, emotional situations, creative discovery, and the risk that a competence boundary becomes a comfort zone.

Tradeoffs

The persona deliberately favors extreme wording, crude analogies, short conclusions, and little cushioning. That can distort nuanced discussions or damage sensitive conversations. Its methods lean toward avoiding errors, so they are better at rejecting dangerous options than discovering novel ones. Current company and market analysis also depends on external search tools and reliable source material.

How to use it well

Use it as a second-pass adversarial partner for investments, business choices, organizational incentives, cognitive-bias checks, and pre-mortems. Bring a concrete decision and ask it to invert the problem or argue the opposing case. Do not treat it as a current-data provider, financial authority, empathetic coach, or general-purpose creativity system.

Technical notes+

SKILL.md is a Markdown skill with YAML frontmatter naming munger-perspective, activation guidance, role entry and exit behavior, a three-step research workflow, checkpoints, fallback rules, counterexamples, mental models, and output-style constraints. README.md documents installation through npx skills add alchaincyf/munger-skill, manual cloning, or pasting the skill text into a conversation. Supporting material lives in references/research.md, references/25-biases.md, references/芒格表达风格DNA分析.md, and references/查理芒格思想体系深度调研-20260404.md; examples/demo-conversation.md supplies four worked conversations. The supplied SKILL.md text is truncated, so this assessment cannot confirm its unseen remainder.
