Sygal is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that converts PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, scans, web pages and YouTube links into Markdown and JSON. Files are processed locally, though images and scans go through an OCR provider the user chooses with their own key. The vendor claims converted scans and web pages can use roughly 2 to 7x fewer tokens in AI prompts.
