Glenn Hitchcock's design vocabulary guide helps turn a vague visual complaint into a specific editing request. Kerning concerns the gap between particular letters; tracking changes letter spacing across a word or passage. Those terms distinguish two different adjustments that “fix the spacing” leaves ambiguous.
