Cloudflare ships disposable, traffic-derived bot detection rules

Cloudflare launched Adaptive Intelligence on August 31, 2026 with continuous retraining of the model behind its bot score. The model learns from live traffic so detection can adjust between conventional software releases. Its launch article places disposable detection rules in a subsequent stage.

Those planned rules would target particular attacks and appear and disappear at irregular intervals. The intended effect is to deny bot operators a stable pattern they can repeatedly test and learn to evade, making each workaround less reusable. That is the proposed mechanism behind Cloudflare's economic argument about raising the cost of attacks.
