A named writing standard can give an assistant a more specific style request than asking it to be clearer. @levelsio reports that asking Anthropic's Claude to remember ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English improved its wording. The attached screenshot shows the assistant acknowledging that preference and describing simpler sentence and vocabulary choices.

ASD-STE100 combines writing rules with a controlled dictionary, originally intended to make technical documentation easier to understand. That gives the request a concrete reference point. The post establishes one user's experience, without testing whether subsequent answers actually comply with the standard.
