Black Forest Labs and Krea built FLUX.1 Krea dev around a deliberate visual preference: more realistic, varied images with less of the oversaturated texture associated with some generated pictures. The release announcement describes downloadable model weights that remain architecturally compatible with the existing FLUX.1 dev ecosystem. That gives developers a different aesthetic starting point for customization while retaining that architecture. The visual direction is a training goal and the developers' assessment of the result; which appearance works best still depends on the intended image.
