Building an open Agentic Internet: readable, discoverable, callable, and payable

Cloudflare's Agentic Internet proposal addresses a commercial problem for publishers: an automated assistant can consume useful content without showing its user the page or its advertising. The company proposes mechanisms through which sites can identify agents and charge them for particular uses of content.

In the model it describes, an agent arrives with a wallet and a budget set by its owner. A publisher can charge for an article fetch, and the transaction leaves a receipt. Cloudflare argues that open standards and a choice of payment providers could let sites participate without depending on one agent platform. This is a proposed business model for machine visits; publisher profitability remains an anticipated benefit.
