Avtensor A High Performance Rust Media Decoder For Training Pipelines

Runway built AVTensor after discovering that its training pipeline could decode a video's sound and pictures against different starting times. A clip could look acceptable in a media player yet reach model training with misaligned audio and video. The company's engineering account traces the problem to separate decoding paths handling timestamps differently.

AVTensor reads both streams through one pass over the file and returns audio and video arrays sharing a time origin. Runway reports that this corrected the problematic clip. The mechanism addresses synchronization in the training data, where an unnoticed timing error can corrupt the relationship the model is meant to learn.
